About Karlie
Owner & Principal of Karlie Grace Dancers - Berwick VIC, Certificate IV & Diploma of Arts (Dance & Performance), Certificate IV in Dance Teaching & Management. Winner of the 2012 Maestro Enrico Cecchetti. Karlie has a comprehensive background in dance education, having taught across Melbourne (metro and regional), interstate and overseas at specialised full-time performing arts schools, as a highly regarded teacher and choreographer. Karlie has a wealth of knowledge and a passion for dance. Her mission is to pass on this love of dance and skills to a new generation of young performers”. Read Full Bio
Ella Graham - Speech Pathologist
Understanding the influence of language disorders to inform inclusive dance education
About Ella
Alongside dance teaching, Ella Graham is a Certified Practising Speech Pathologist working in regional Victoria. Ella has a Master of Speech Pathology and within her work, supports individuals across the lifespan with their speech, language, feeding and swallowing needs. Ella is passionate about advocating for inclusive environments to ensure all individuals can participate meaningfully in the community. Ella’s background in Speech Pathology informs her practice as a ballet teacher when working with children of various backgrounds.

About Ben
Ben began formal ballet training at the age of 14 in the Cecchetti system under Helene Gowers and Shelly Rae, in Western Australia. Further trained under Mdm Kira Busloff, and the Graduate College (Perth) before attending WAAPA and studied with Marilyn Jones, Lucette Aldous and Alan Alder, amongst many other notable teachers.
After leaving WAAPA, Ben danced with the West Australian Ballet, Pacific Northwest Ballet and Singapore Dance Theatre before returning to Australia where he attained his Associate status under the old Imperial Society of Teachers of Dance (ISTD-London) system in 2002 and completed his Licentiate (Cecchetti Ballet Australia) in 2005. About Heidi
Heidi is a passionate Womens health and Dance Physio and Educator, and empowers her clients to create meaningful and positive changes in their lives. As a previous dancer (taught from Denise Utz School of Dance), Associate Cecchetti ballet teacher and now Dance Physio (trained by Lisa Howell - from the ballet blog), she endeavored in learning how she could lift her leg up higher and push her body in a safe and anatomical manner. Naturally, she started treating more females, pelvis’s and hips and stumbled across her second passion - Womens health physiotherapy. She is the owner of Femme Physiotherapy and Wellness - a Physiotherapy and wellness clinic in Goldcoast and online which helps Women and Dancers reach their full potential. Read Full Bio

About Julia
Julia Richards’ postgraduate research explores association between dance and literature. Julia’s Honours thesis, Jane Austen’s Ball: Choreographing Gender, Desire, and Courtship (2022), examined the function of dance within Northanger Abbey, Pride and Prejudice, and Emma. Last year, Julia undertook research as part of PhD relating to the importance of dance within Shakespearean plays. She has since transferred to a Master of Teaching (Secondary) degree and hopes to use her research and skills to teach the next generation of literature and dance enthusiasts!

About Debra
Debra grew up in Australia where she was trained by Athol Willoughby at Essendon Academy of Ballet in the Cecchetti method of classical ballet. She received additional training and performing experience with the National Ballet Theatre and Ballet Victoria. She performed with the Sydney City Ballet for three years before moving to the United States where she was the Assistant Director and then Artistic Director of Ballet Omaha. Debra has served as Chairman of Regional Dance America/Pacific, President of Regional Dance America, on the Honorary Committee for the USA International Ballet Competition and Executive Director of Regional Dance America’s Craft of Choreography Conference. About Adam
Adam began his dance training with Lorraine Blackburn OAM, where he studied the Cecchetti ballet syllabus. He then furthered his ballet training at The Australian Ballet School, graduating with Honours and as the Dux of the school. He joined The Australian Ballet where he quickly rose through the ranks and became a Soloist within two years. In 2002, he was offered a Soloist position with the world-renowned English National Ballet. He then joined the prestigious Opera National de Paris, becoming the first Australian to do so. About Dr. Kathrina
Dr Kathrina Farrugia-Kriel is a dance scholar, writer and educator. Her research interests are in 20th and 21st Century ballet, as performance and pedagogical histories. Her work is widely published, and her books include Princess Poutiatine and the Art of Ballet in Malta (2020), and an extensive anthology The Oxford Handbook of Contemporary Ballet, co-edited with Dr Jill Nunes Jensen and recently published by Oxford University Press in 2021. She is currently working with Adesola Akinleye on a new book titled The Oxford Handbook of Ballet Pedagogy (due out in late 2025). Read Full Bio

About Chloë
Chloë is internationally trained and accredited as an Intimacy Co-ordinator (screen) and Intimacy Director (live theatre). She is currently working on productions for Netflix, Warner Bros, Fremantle, Disney Studios, Stan and Paramount Plus. With a life-long journey in professional dance, and as an award-winning musical theatre performer, Chloë’s career has seen her work as a Resident/ Associate Choreographer on main-stage productions such as Billy Elliot, Oliver!, and Annie, as well as perform lead roles in productions such as The Producers, Chicago, Thoroughly Modern Millie and The Addams Family.
